September Chart
// Joel Alter & Henrik Jonsson // Jatten // Kontra-Musik // The Swedish duo dust off a well-worn, warm artefact of a deep house track that covers nearly fifteen minutes of your day. A beautiful fifteen minutes.
// Elemental // Sparkle // Hotflush // Crunchy, ambient dubstep intertwined with crystalline textures and a crinkly shuffle of a beat.
// Henry Saiz // Hipnos // Natura Sonoris // Saiz goes for the jugular with this, a progressive techno weapon that pulls all the right punches at just the right times.
// Traversable Wormhole // Exotic Matter (Terence Fixmer Remix) // CLR // Continuing the seemingly never-ending string of TW remix EPs, Fixmer turns up a droning bass weapon of a mix that’s pure, uninhibited techno.
// Function // Immolare (Function Version) // Sandwell District // In what could be safely considered the same sound realm as the track above, Function go for the creep factor with pads that literally moan, a constant undercurrent of anxiety and unrest, a tunnel-like sound design, and a bassline that could very well buckle under its own weight.
// Two Armadillos // Nostalgia // Buzzin’ Fly // Martin Dawson & Giles Smith ply their brand of simple yet emotive deep house on this record for Buzzin’ Fly, one that buzzes with a playful energy, warm keys, and a flute melody that’s rife with, well, sentimentality and joy.
// Arkist // What Do I See // Deca Rhythm // Bristol bass upstart Arkist turns in a deep, almost Detroit-esque half step cut that ebbs and flows (literally) and contains a bassline that’s fierce yet almost soft and puffy. Go figure.
